Link Tracker
Dell have moved their technology platform over to LinkTracker and it has had some effect on the affiliate program.
The first amd most immediate impact was the change in linking - it became no longer possible to build your own deep links.
A basic text link and an epi will track.

A basic text link and an epi and a deep link will not track.

However we created some new links for you to use - please go to the Dell program and see under Text Links - we have devised a new g code (ie an identifying code for each 'creative') for all of the main Dell product categories e.g. Dell Inspiron Notebooks.
Please use these tracking codes going forward. This means that any changes that need to be made to the links we can make automatically here and they will automatically update with you, without us having to ask you to keep changing them all the time.
The other impact that many of you have seen in a decline in your conversion rate. This is for several reasons:
1)In the past if a user clicked on a creative served by the media buying agency and then later went through a creative served by an affiliate and purchased, the affiliate AND the media agency were credited with the sale.
LinkTracker gives Dell the ability to track these events separately and therefore not pay commissions twice on the same sale. So going forward, it is the last click that is being awarded the sale, in the example above it would be the affiliate.
2)In the past Tradedoubler reported on net orders. In other words as soon as the order was placed through an
affiliate link we recorded it as a sale in our system. However, LinkTracker gives Dell the ability to record the sale once it hits their dispatch. In this way sales that are later cancelled by the user and fraudulent sales are no longer recorded. This means that Dell do not have to do an order reconciliation at the end of the month so the sales numbers that you see on the Tradedoubler system are the numbers that you will get paid for.... there will not be deletions.
3)Move to batch. This means that sales will no longer be recorded in real time. Dell appreciate the difficulty this causes you and they will be sending the batch files on a daily basis. However, because of the sales being recorded at dispatch as opposed to on order, there can be a delay of up to two weeks before the sale appears in the Tradedoubler system, if for example a credit check is being run.
